Each Garment begins as an original mixed-media collage, handcrafted by Carmen using paper, gouache paint, and matte gel medium. Every portrait is cut, layered, and assembled by hand, giving each character her own unique personality.
The original artwork is then transformed into embroidery using up to 45,000 stitches and more than 30 thread Changes.
The result is a soft, wearable piece of art that brings the spirit of the original collage to life.
